The iLITH database contains water-well records from the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, Division of Water. These records were edited by the Indiana Geological Survey for locational accuracy and this lithologic data were standardized in a series of tables. The graphical interface included on the iLITH CD-ROM provides utilities for viewing and adding data, constructing queries, and interpreting lithologic descriptions (Brown and others, 2000).

This Web site displays the water wells in Allen County that are contained in the iLITH database. Allen County is home to 5,269 records contained in iLITH (fig. 1). The location and lithology data for each well can be viewed by clicking on any water-well point in the IMS Web viewer using the information tool. This will display the information in a report format that can be printed (fig. 2).

The iLITH database also has extended visualization capabilities when used with tools authored for ArcView 3.x. The Stratigraphic Column Layout and 3-D Core Builder tools allow the user to visualize the water well lithology data in two or three dimensions (figs. 3 and 4). The tools are not available through the Web site but are available in the publication by Brown and others (2000).
